Stockbridge Cemetery Commission adopts formal green burial rules and funds a $12,000 memorial landscape. Commissioners unanimously approved revised guidelines creating single and family cremation urn plots and a natural burial option requiring biodegradable caskets, with member Candace explaining the standard "is going to naturally decompose and go back to nature." The panel also voted to accept landscaper Tom Farley's bluestone design for a flag meditation area at cost under $12,000, financed partly by $5,000 already set aside from the Perpetual Care Fund and a new $10,000 annual town appropriation. Commissioners declined, for now, a $4,707.50 Untamed Gardens planting proposal for the historic vault grounds, citing uneven terrain and unfinished repointing work.
Member Karen said the cemetery's older preservation fund had just $7,600 left as of October. Tuesday's meeting was the last for two commission members, including Candace.
