Stockbridge Bowl panel finalizes lake plan for Select Board

Other Committee · Meeting of May 28, 2026

Stockbridge Bowl Committee finalizes lake plan, clashes with state over swim enforcement. Members voted unanimously to accept the May 14 minutes and agreed to send the Select Board an updated 2025 executive summary of the Lake Management Plan, first drafted in 2022 by GZA, ahead of a presentation set for July 2 at 6:30 p.m. Committee member Michael said he would bind four physical copies for board members and circulate the document early "for them to look at or have a chance to look at it at their discretion." Members are also awaiting word from state officials on a disputed water chestnut harvesting permit limited to a "one pass" standard covering roughly 9.7 acres.

Separately, members objected to the state directing volunteer zebra mussel monitors to enforce a no-swimming policy at the town's nearly finished boat ramp, saying "we can't allow them to be enforcers of that." A kayak-loaner launch party with the Stockbridge Library was set for Saturday at the town beach.
