Stockbridge Bowl commission appoints Vynum secretary, reviews lake health
Other Committee · Meeting of April 9, 2026
Stockbridge Bowl Stewardship Commission taps Tom Vynum as secretary, hears lake water quality is holding steady. Vice Chairman Don Chavon led the hybrid meeting in place of Chairman Michael Nathan, who was traveling. Consultant Ben Burpee told members the lake is "in good shape," while commissioners pushed for a standing state permit to treat cyanobacteria blooms faster than the town could during past emergencies.
Members unanimously approved Vynum as secretary starting April 23 and named longtime secretary Sally as his substitute. The commission also heard the town's boat launch reconstruction remains closed with about seven weeks of work left, including a new 50-by-20-foot retention pond to catch runoff. Commissioner Tim Minkler canceled this year's fishing derby because of the closure.
Members tabled a fuller lake management plan review until the April 23 meeting.
