Stockbridge Water, Sewer Commission Votes to Raise Rates
Water · Meeting of April 14, 2026
Stockbridge Water and Sewer Commission raises rates as usage keeps falling. The board voted unanimously to raise sewer rates 5% and water rates 10%, pushing the minimum sewer bill from $142 to $149 and raising the minimum billed water usage to 2,500 cubic feet, worth an added $11,000. Michael Canales told the board water leaving the treatment plant fell from 61.2 million gallons in 2021 to 52.4 million gallons in 2025, with the plant now idle roughly 100 days a year it once ran.
The commission also raised its bulk water rate to haulers from three-quarters of a cent to a full cent per gallon, worth about $10,000 per million gallons sold, and is banking on $70,000 in reserves if usage keeps declining. A $1 million Climate Leader solar grant application is due August 7.
