Stockbridge trust tables seasonal communities article pending study

Other Committee · Meeting of March 24, 2026

Stockbridge Affordable Housing Trust tables seasonal communities plan, pivots to land and vacant homes. Trustees approved March 10 minutes 5-0 with one abstention, then agreed to wait for a Berkshire Regional Planning Commission study, funded through a Select Board grant, before deciding whether to bring the state's seasonal communities law to a town meeting warrant, likely pushing any vote to 2027. Chair Patrick said proposed amendments to the underlying legislation are premature, joking the regulations aren't even "kind of brown toast yet." Trustee Jan asked to be looped into BRPC's consultant review rather than just its conclusions.

Trustees assigned member Mark to inventory buildable land along the Mass Pike corridor and discussed a pending "Elmcorp" permitting decision that could trigger a payment to the trust, plus reuse of three underused fire stations and a push for tax-deductible property donations. The board meets next April 21 at 4:30 p.m.
