Stockbridge lake panel advances budget items amid dissolution dispute
Other Committee · Meeting of April 23, 2026
Stockbridge Bowl panel advances budget requests as resident presses dissolution dispute. The Stockbridge Bowl Stewardship Commission voted 5-0 to accept its April 9 minutes and 5-0 to fold an addendum into its draft lake management plan, sending three budget requests, including $2,500 for professional advice and $15,000 for water chestnut removal, toward the town meeting warrant. Resident Anita Schwerner criticized the panel for not addressing an April 2 Select Board meeting where a warrant article to dissolve the commission was proposed, and pressed Select Board liaison Jamie over a no vote on the $2,500 item.
"Just because I said no is only my budgetary concerns, not my not being supportive," Jamie said. Members also reviewed AI-assisted analysis of a GZA water-testing report identifying lake-bottom hypoxia as a driver of cyanobacteria risk, and got updates on dredging, dam repairs and boat ramp stormwater work.
