Stockbridge Cemetery Commission elects new slate of officers
Other Committee · Meeting of July 28, 2026
Stockbridge Cemetery Commission elects new officers, reviews a trust fund down to $133,104. Members elected Peter Williams chair, Pat Flynn vice chair and Cheryl Ressitots clerk, welcoming new members Maria Carr and Chris Marsden in a 2-0 vote with the three incumbents abstaining. The commission has spent more than $300,000 since 2022 restoring the cemetery's oldest section, including gravestones tied to the town's founder, leaving $133,104.45 in the Cemetery Trust Fund as of June 30.
A new $10,000 annual discretionary budget line, on top of the existing $6,000, gives the commission its first year-to-year maintenance money. Vice Chair Flynn said "learning about the different funding sources we had was really educational for me." Roughly $44,000, redirected from an unspent Hearse House grant, is set aside for phase two of the vault building's restoration, while a flagpole-area patio remains stalled after bids came in above the $5,000 the town meeting approved.
