Other Committee · Meeting of October 8, 2026

STOCKBRIDGE — The Stockbridge Bowl Stewardship Committee voted 6-0 to recommend the Select Board ban wake boats on the lake. Member Lori presented video evidence that wake-boat turbulence could disturb a dormant layer of cyanobacteria on the lake bottom, warning the boats are "harmful to the environment" and "harmful to the critters that live there." The panel wants the ban added to Article 16 of the town's general bylaws, which already prohibits jet skis. Separately, the committee voted to formally request a written Lily Brook sediment-management plan from Tri-Town Health official Charlie Kinney and collaborator Ben Burpee.

Member Rachel outlined an early-stage Lily Pond dredging concept targeting roughly 100 cubic yards of silt annually, citing a 2017 study and ongoing talks with a contractor and a former state DEP reviewer. The committee also approved its September 24 minutes and adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
