Fire panel picks CBA over EDM for station study

Other Committee · Meeting of July 13, 2026

Stockbridge fire committee unanimously recommends CBA over EDM for fire station design study. Committee member Scott reported reference checks that were "mostly glowing" for both finalist firms, though one CBA client said they "probably wouldn't hire them again" after a code dispute. Member Eric said CBA's in-house staffing, including architect Jim Hannafin, outweighed concerns about EDM's reliance on independent consultant Bob Mitchell, whose availability is uncertain amid his wife's illness.

CBA's roughly ten Massachusetts public-safety projects, versus EDM's four, including the Williamstown and Great Barrington fire stations, factored into the unanimous show-of-hands vote. The recommendation goes to the Select Board as soon as Thursday, July 16, with a signed contract targeted for August 4 and a kickoff meeting tentatively set for August 6.
